Calling all bibliophiles and cocktail enthusiasts—we’re diving into When It’s Cocktail Time in Cuba, British playwright and journalist Basil Woon’s prohibition-era portrait of the Havana that attracted waves of thirsty American visitors! Equal parts guidebook, history, and social commentary, Woon’s lively account whisks readers through the island’s bars, clubs, cocktails, and vibrant landscapes, capturing the allure of a bygone era.
Drawing on themes from recent exhibitions and facilitated by chief librarian Frank Luca, Beyond the Pages is a series exploring novels through the lens of the collection.
