Date: Saturday, May 18, 2024
Time: 1:30–3pm
Location: The Wolfsonian–FIU @ 1001 Washington Avenue
Dive into iconic texts featured in our new show Silhouettes: Image and Word in the Harlem Renaissance through a three-part, exhibition-inspired book club. Hosted at The Wolfsonian, featuring guest speaker Renee O'Connor, and facilitated by FIU English professor Shawn Christian, our final meeting focuses on Zora Neale Hurston's Mules and Men, an ethnographic collection of African American folklore and culture. This program series, providing an opportunity to discover and discuss influential writing from the Harlem Renaissance, previously explored Alain Locke's The New Negro: An Interpretation (January) and Claude McKay's Banjo (March).
Co-sponsored by FIU's College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE) and Department of English.
