Before becoming a controversial figure in film history, Leni Riefenstahl was known for her early Bergfilme, or "mountain films," a Weimer-era German film genre showcasing adventure in the Alps. The Great Leap (Der große Sprung) is a silent romantic comedy starring Riefenstahl as an Italian mountain villager whose life is turned upside down by tourists on a ski trip. Start your evening with a free Miami Beach Culture Crawl guided tour of our exhibition The Big World: Alternative Landscapes in the Modern Era at 6:15pm, followed by the screening.

Co-organized with the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany.
