Art Deco is known for its sinuous curves, polished surfaces, sensual materials, and erotic depictions of the male and female body. But during Deco’s height in the 1920s and ’30s, physical health was under enormous threat. How and why did its fantasies become so misaligned with the realities of the world? Wolfsonian director Tim Rodgers invites you to take a fresh look at old ideals in a special lecture inspired by Deco: Luxury to Mass Market.
