Tune in as Wolfsonian chief curator Silvia Barisione spotlights art and design objects that show how the novel styles of the 1920s and '30s defined a new way of living. Breaking away from revivalist styles, a modern language emerged among designers and manufacturers in Europe and the U.S., morphing gradually into an industrial aesthetic that championed functionality and simplicity over ornament. From unique pieces to mass-produced household items, this kickoff Art Deco Weekend presentation will feature works from our collection and from that of The Wolfsoniana, our sister institution in Genoa, Italy.

Organized with Miami Design Preservation League.
