Join us for a toe-tapping celebration of Foot Notes: Shoes, Symbolism, and Society, as chief librarian Frank Luca and digitization specialist Hannah Gauthier delve into the music and historical context of Hollywood's shoe-centered Golden Age films. Come prepared to enjoy clips from a variety of films, including Charlie Chaplin's The Gold Rush (1925), MGM's comedy short, New Shoes (1936), and the Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse musical romantic comedy, Silk Stockings (1957), among others.
