Our virtual movie chats continue with a discussion on the modern legacy of jazz! Spotlighting saxophonist and composer Ornette Coleman—an artist who reshaped the 1960s music scene with his trademark improvisation and freeform style—our conversation will dissect Shirley Clarke's 1985 documentary, Ornette: Made in America. Watch the film on your own schedule to see performance footage, psychedelic early music videos, reenactments, and interviews with creative legends like William S. Burroughs, Buckminster Fuller, and Yoko Ono, then gather with us to talk jazz. Featured speakers include Carter Jackson-Brown of Ad Hoc Cinema and WDNA 88.9 FM's Brainville Jazz show in conversation with filmmaker and curator Amir George.
