Paris Expo 1925
August 28, 2026–August 1, 2027
The Wolfsonian–FIU @ 1001 Washington Avenue
Celebrating the origins of Art Deco, Paris Expo 1925 illustrates how Parisian department stores set the stage for the style of an era. This small display presents postcards, sales catalogues, and a few objects that 100 years ago introduced the now-iconic aesthetic—defined by geometric forms, stylized motifs, and symmetrical compositions. Seen by more than 15 million fairgoers, the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes helped spread the new taste, later termed Art Deco, around the world.
Paris Expo 1925 is on view in Knight Lab 4.
